Wet dual-clutch refers to a dual-clutch system composed of two sets of coaxially mounted multi-plate clutches, one large and one small, which are installed in a sealed oil chamber filled with hydraulic fluid, thus offering better adjustability and excellent thermal stability, and capable of transmitting higher torque. Dry dual-clutch, on the other hand, was developed based on the technology of the 6-speed DQ250 wet dual-clutch, simplifying the related hydraulic system.

Its working principle involves three similarly sized clutch plates stacked coaxially, with the clutch plates on either side connecting to gears 1, 3, 5, 7 and 2, 4, 6, reverse, respectively. The central plate moves between them, engaging or disengaging with the two clutch plates to facilitate gear changes. Although the direct engagement of dry friction plates provides the most direct transmission efficiency, they are more prone to overheating and have inferior thermal stability compared to wet clutches, thus handling relatively lower torque. The 7-speed DQ200 has a maximum torque capacity of 250 N·m and is generally paired with small-displacement engines.
