● Electromagnetic Adjustable Suspension

This suspension system utilizes electromagnetic reactions to adjust the vehicle's chassis height. Its technical characteristics include advanced technology and rapid system response, capable of reacting in a very short time. Its advantages are particularly evident when encountering bumps during high-speed driving, with a reaction speed up to 5 times faster than traditional suspensions. However, its cost is higher, and it is mostly applied in luxury vehicles, with its stability still under evaluation.

Applicable models include SLS, among others.

● Electromagnetic Suspension

The electromagnetic suspension system mainly consists of an ECU (Electronic Control Unit), wheel displacement sensors, electromagnetic hydraulic rods, and monotube shock absorbers. Its secret lies in the magnetorheological fluid (MR fluid) that acts as the damping medium. This MR fluid is composed of synthetic hydrocarbons and fine iron particles. In a normal state, these metal particles are randomly distributed in the liquid, but with the generation of an electromagnetic field and changes in magnetic flux, they arrange themselves into a specific structure, and the viscosity coefficient changes accordingly, thereby altering the damping. The strength of the electromagnetic field can be controlled simply by changing the current, thus achieving the purpose of controlling the damping coefficient. Cadillac's MRC (Magnetic Ride Control) electromagnetic suspension is one such example.

When the vehicle travels over bumpy roads, causing wheel bounce, sensors quickly transmit signals to the control system. The control system then issues corresponding commands, sending electrical signals to the electronic coils of each shock absorber. The movement of current generates a magnetic field, and under the influence of this magnetic field, the viscosity of the magnetorheological fluid changes, thereby achieving the purpose of body control and damping. This complex process is actually completed instantaneously. For example, by the time you finish reading the preceding lines, this process may have already completed 3000 times, at a rate of up to 1000 times per second.
