About Volvo

Volvo, a luxury automotive brand originating from Sweden, boasts nearly a century of brand history. In 1927, in Gothenburg, Sweden, founders Gustaf Larson and Assar Gabrielsson jointly established the Volvo brand. Volvo inherits the Nordic humanistic spirit, establishing the brand philosophy of 'Designed Around You' – prioritizing people – from its inception, and making safety, environmental protection, and quality its core missions for brand development. Safety is synonymous with Volvo and is deeply embedded in the brand's mission as its DNA. Volvo has invented almost all core automotive safety technologies in human history, from the three-point seatbelt and rear-facing child safety seats to today's intelligent safety technologies. In 1999, Volvo Group sold its Volvo Cars business to the American Ford Motor Company. In 2010, Chinese automotive company Zhejiang Geely Holding Group acquired the Volvo Cars business from Ford and gained ownership of the Volvo Cars brand.
